Frequently Asked Questions

What can I put in my bin?

"Food and fiber" is an easy way to remember. If it was edible, it goes in. Napkins, flowers, egg shells, and coffee grinds are all welcome, as well. Please no charcoal, animal/human feces or urine, or excessive amounts of liquids.

What happens to the stuff you collect?

The compostable waste we collect is processed at one of our commercial composting partner facilities in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

What areas do you service?

Can I use a different bin?

Yes, absolutely, as long as you empty your materials into our bin when you put it out for collection.

What do I do with my bin on pick-up day?

Place it outside your door or at the end of your driveway the night before your pick-up day. We will empty it between 6 AM and 7 PM on your scheduled day.

I missed my collection day. What do I do?

It happens to all of us. Just send a message to us through the Member Portal or to our email at, and we'll arrange for your bin to get picked up. Additional charges may apply for multiple off-schedule pick-ups.

Will my bin smell?

Our bins are airtight, so as long as you keep the lid on, you shouldn't experience any smells. And each week, your bin will be freshly lined.
